Address Holds

Address Holds

Big Sky Fulfillment asks all clients to assume responsibility for clearing the address holds.

We have put this policy in place for a few reasons:

1)  There was a time when BSF was going through and correcting addresses.  From time to time there were corrections that were made based on a google search that seemed to be correct however the package would not make it to its destination.   In these cases we tried to do the right thing but the fault landed on our lap.

2) More often than not the address needs to be verified with the customers.  Our clients(you) obviously have a direct line of communication with the customer to confirm the address.  With the clients assuming the role of clearing the address, it streamlines the process and cuts out the middleman to get corrections updated in a timely manner.

How to Manage Order Address Holds

ShipHero will check the shipping address of every order it receives. This is enabled by default in Settings with the option "Put Order On Hold If Address Is Invalid". Addresses are validated using the USPS Address validator.

How It Works

When an order shipping address is validated, 1 of 3 things can happen if Address Validation is enabled.

  1. If the address is valid, then nothing will happen.
  2. If the address is invalid, but an alternate address is found, the address is updated with the suggested correct provided by the USPS Address database.
  3. If the address is invalid AND no alternate address is found, the order is automatically put on "Address Hold".

Ok, I have an Invalid Address, Now What?

  1. Update the Shipping Address with the correct address.
  2. Uncheck the "Address Hold" checkbox and update.

All Address Changes Are Logged

Every change made to an order, including address changes are available for view in the Order History log available in the order details view.

Address Is Right And I Don't Want It On Hold

You can remove the hold manually by checking the "Ignore Address Validation Errors" box.  Even though this box is checked some carriers will still not allow an incorrect address through.
